في 17/6/2009، تم وضع حجر أساس للمركز البيئي في الميحال – إهمج بحضور سفيرة الولايات المتحدة الأميركية في لبنان السيدة ميشيل سيسون. هذا المركز مموّل من الملحقية العسكرية في السفارة الأميركية عبر الUSAID لأهداف بيئية وصيانة الغابات.
